#### Education

Rice University - BA, Managerial Studies , Columbia University - Ph.D., Mathematics Education#### Experience

I earned my doctorate at Columbia University in math education. I currently teach math courses at Mercy College. I've been tutoring students in math since high school, and I have experience volunteering for math tutoring at the elementary schools as well. I'm comfortable tutoring any topic in math from elementary school level to college level. With college and high school students, I really enjoy tutoring algebra. I look at math problems as puzzles to solve, and I like to help students think of it this way as well. I also think we put too much emphasis on efficiency and problem-solving. The more important focus should be on helping students develop critical thinking and logical skills to solve problems intuitively. This will always be more successful in the long term for students than attempting to memorize formulas. Using this method, students who don't like math often improve their opinion of it and can be more successful. I gave up a law career to teach math, and I'm not looking back. When I have free time, I love doing yoga. I also like to learn on my own for fun, and I've recently studied classical mythology. I also enjoy skiing and art history.#### Hobbies
