Experience

Having over ten years of high school and college ESL (English as a Second Language) teaching experience, my strength is in pinpointing students' weaknesses and providing appropriate guidance towards improvement, particularly in the areas of reading comprehension and public speaking skills. Patient, compassionate, and fond of learning, I enjoy working with students of all ages and language backgrounds. Regardless of ability or skill levels, I hold my students to a high standard and strive to cultivate in them a serious work ethic. I take special joy and pride in the fact that the teenagers I tutored all made remarkable academic progress and went from struggling English learners to self-motivated students who started thriving in school. Currently I am a full-time online student at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, working towards a Master of Divinity degree. I speak fluent Chinese - both Cantonese and Mandarin. Hobbies

Music and languages are two life-long interests. In the past I had spent weeks listening to Taiwanese and Korean songs and watching soap operas in order to learn the languages. My most recent undertakings are Biblical Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. I'm also a Christian. I love nature, and hiking and swimming in the ocean are two favorite hobbies. Favorite writers include Robert Louis Stevenson, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Roald Dahl.
